Chocolate & Book: May

Hey Guys!

I have started a new subscription. From the lovely people at Chocolate and Book, they have thought of a wonderful moment in time. What could be better than a book, a nice warm drink and also, a girls best friend, Chocolate. And this has all been put into one box.

They have several different subscriptions and I currently have the YA, as normal, subscription. Though I might update this to the Surprise box… Ooh… Ahh. Yeah I know right. There’s something very nice about not knowing what book you’ll get.

So, lets start with what I got this month. Now all of you who know me, will know if its not chocolate… then its tea in my tea cups. Choc & Book have found the perfect treat for me. Cookies and Cream Tea!! what could be better than that.

The Chocolate. Now, before you start… No, I haven’t eaten it all already, and I held off. Only just taken a bite. This delicious bar is done by Montezuma’s. Now I hadn’t heard of this company before so I did a little research. They are a British chocolate company and the bar that they have given us is Space Hopper with Orange. Milk chocolate with orange. So good.

And now the book. You guys know I am all YA, however I have not yet heard of this book. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. When I read the blurb, I liked it. It’s not one I would normally pick up as I feel its more contemporary but hey my BFF has been telling me to leave Narnia for a while and come home. I feel this is going to be a great book with a really good twist. And I can’t wait to sink my teeth in.

Summery: Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed.

Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name. Some cops and the local drug lord try to intimidate Starr and her family. What everyone wants to know is: what really went down that night? And the only person alive who can answer that is Starr.

But what Starr does or does not say could upend her community. It could also endanger her life.

So I just want to say thank you to the guys at Chocolate and Book one more time as I love this little moment that you create. All links to the suppliers and to the company are included below for your reference and indulgence.
